Movement is More Than Working Out:
How everyday movement can be a benefit
We introduced two of the three foundational pillars of health in the previous newsletters - sleep and nutrition. This month we delve into the third essential pillar of health - movement.
In a world where sedentary lifestyles are fast becoming the norm, the importance of movement cannot be overstated. Whether you’re working to maintain a healthy lifestyle, recover from an injury, or improve your overall fitness, movement plays a critical role in your well-being.
Even small amounts of movement can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It also promotes mental well-being, reducing stress and enhancing mood by triggering the release of endorphins, often referred to as the “feel-good” hormones.
When it comes to recovery, movement is key to healing. After an injury or even just a hard workout, guided movement from someone like a physiotherapist can help restore mobility, flexibility, and strength. This helps promote better blood flow to the affected areas, reducing stiffness and encouraging tissue healing.
Fitness, of course, thrives on movement. Regular physical activity improves muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility, helping you be more resilient to whatever life throws at you.
With an overwhelming amount of information floating on the internet, it can be confusing to know where to start.
Our friends at CrossFit Train share a very simple, effective, and approachable insight on how to get moving and stay moving!
“Movement doesn’t have to be complicated—it can be as simple as taking a quick walk, having a mini-dance party in the kitchen, or getting up after an hour of work to do a few bodyweight exercises like squats and burpees. Small, consistent movements throughout the day can boost your energy, improve your mood, and keep you feeling strong and healthy. Keep it simple, keep it moving!"

A great way to not only start, but maintain a regular active lifestyle is to do it as part of a group or community. Surrounded by coaches and trainers that provide appropriate modifications and scaled challenges, as well as training alongside fellow community members can encourage, support and hold you accountable.
